The plan area under consideration, with an area of approximately 41,000 m², is currently characterized by, among other things, a large asphalted area, two sports field areas, a playground, and a training area for the volunteer fire department. The watercourse runs piped under the area. Following the sponge city principle, a water-compatible and climate-adapted land use in the urban area is to be implemented in the Wehrda sub-project. The runoff water is to be specifically retained before reaching the settlement areas. The area used as a sports and leisure area is to serve as a retention area to reduce flooding from heavy rainfall (especially from the outer areas) in Wehrda. The following measures are planned, among others: Renaturation of the "Teufelsgraben" watercourse over a length of approx. 160m by opening it up in the southern part of the area; Creation of an underground retention space in the area of the grass sports field; Creation of several cross-bars or dams west and north of the populated area; Creation of potential retention spaces by erecting small dams in the area of the multi-generation square; Increasing the quality of stay in the multi-generation square. ___ Note on estimated duration: A company is sought that can start processing immediately after commissioning.
