Die Maximilian-Kolbe-Schule in Rheinbrohl ist eine Förderschule mit Förderschwerpunkt Lernen und ganzheitliche Entwicklung. Aufgrund gestiegener und weiter steigender Schülerzahlen besteht ein akuter Raumbedarf, weshalb das Bestandsgebäude erweitert werden soll. Die Aufsichts- und Dienstleistungsdirektion hat den genauen Raumbedarf ermittelt. Dieser beläuft sich auf 1.209 Quadratmeter (siehe Anlage). Zur ersten Einschätzung wurde eine städtebauliche Machbarkeitsstudie in Auftrag gegeben, welche den Vergabeunterlagen beigefügt ist. Maßgeblich für die endgültige Flächenverfügbarkeit ist die dann geltende Bauleitplanung. Geplant ist ein zweigeschossiger Anbau mit direktem Anschluss an das Bestandsgebäude (siehe Anlage). Für den Anbau wird eine Holzbauweise vorgesehen. Sowohl eine Holzleichtbauweise (hier beispielsweise eine Holztafelbauweise) als auch eine Holzmassivbauweise (hier beispielsweise eine Brettstapelbauweise) sind denkbar. Eine Bauweise mittels vorgefertigter Module ist nicht erwünscht. Zur Finanzierung des Bauprojektes wird eine Förderung angestrebt.
