De BRP-Straat Westerwolde heeft als belangrijkste taak het registreren van personen die voor een eerste inschrijving in de BRP in aanmerking komen. De BRP-Straat werkt onder andere nauw samen met de IND, COA en de AVIM. Naast de samenwerking met de ketenpartners op het aanmeldcentrum heb je ook veel contact met de andere BRP-straten.Het BRP-proces is een continu doorlopend proces. De BRP-Straat Westerwolde is zeven dagen per week in bedrijf en hierdoor is het team zowel doordeweeks als in het weekend inzetbaar. De hoofdtaken bestaan uit: het voorbereiden van dossiers op het gebied van eerste inschrijving in de BRP;het controleren van dossiers op het gebied van eerste inschrijving in de BRP;het voeren van intakegesprekken met asielzoekers;het toepassen van het juiste IPR recht en nationaliteitswetgeving;
