En el contexto centroamericano, y particularmente Honduras, los múltiples desafíos asociados a las emergencias y la atención de personas desplazadas internas por desastres de origen natural han motivado esfuerzos coordinados por parte de la OIM.
A través del proyecto “Respuesta Humanitaria para Desplazados internos y Migrantes Retornados con Necesidades de Protección en Honduras.”, financiado por Fondos Central en caso de Emergencia de las Naciones Unidas (OCHA), la OIM busca fortalecer las capacidades de preparación y respuesta ante emergencias que afectan a personas en situación de movilidad.
A través de la realización de estas intervenciones se espera Fortalecer y acondicionar la infraestructura del Gimnasio Municipal de La Lima, en el departamento de Cortés, con el objetivo de ofrecer una atención más digna y segura tanto a las personas que hacen uso de sus servicios como a quienes, día a día, se dedican a brindar dicha asistencia.
