Description

The World Bank is conducting a longitudinal impact evaluation, including a randomized controlled trial (RCT), of this approach. The study targets refugee women aged 18 to 49 living in refugee settlements in Uganda. Candidate settlements include Nakivale, Rwamwanja, Kyangwali, Kyaka II, Palorinya and Rhino; final locations will be confirmed with the selected partner(s). The research initiative is designed to (i) pilot PM+ with and without digital reinforcement messages; (ii) evaluate whether the analysis of voice recordings can identify signs consistent with mental illness; and (iii) evaluate the impact of PM+ delivered with digital reinforcement through an RCT with three arms: a waitlist control group, a PM+ only group, and a PM+ with digital reinforcement group. The World Bank team is seeking to contract a research partner (or consortium) to co-lead this research in close collaboration with the World Bank team. Data collection will use standard electronic data collection platforms, and each survey round will include two 60-second voice recordings per respondent.
