Midibus Procurement

Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK) aims to successively replace its entire fleet with vehicles with environmentally friendly drives. Small and midibuses are used in particular for demanding and long routes that require a high range. Market research for this tender has shown that the market currently does not yet have sufficiently powerful vehicles with alternative drives that can handle these routes. In order to meet the current demand for midibuses and to bridge the development time in the area of alternative drives, diesel midibuses are being tendered to ensure the necessary mobility provision in the relevant regions. This measure is a transitional solution until the technical development in alternative drives also in the midibus segment meets the operational requirements. The status quo is regularly reviewed in order to switch to emission-free drives as quickly as possible as technology progresses. The long-term goal of climate neutrality at RVK remains unaffected and is still an integral part of strategic corporate planning. A total of 40 midibuses are being tendered. 10 vehicles will be called off bindingly as a base and 30 additional vehicles can be optionally called off over the contract period. Of the 10 bindingly called-off vehicles, 5 midibuses are needed as soon as possible. Of all bidders who pass the participation competition, the three who can ensure the shortest delivery times (calculated from the time of the binding order) will be invited to submit a bid.
