A 3T MRI is being tendered for the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. The device is intended for clinical routine examinations and research use. The Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Würzburg plans to acquire a state-of-the-art 3T MRI scanner to maintain and expand its diagnostic and scientific capabilities. The aim of this tender is to find a system that meets both clinical requirements and the high demands of medical and technical research. The system must enable an efficient workflow through easy patient positioning, quick coil setup, and straightforward evaluation of the required examination techniques. The coils used must be as light as possible and should allow for flexible and comfortable patient positioning. The new technical capabilities of the device to be acquired should not only expand the diagnostic spectrum of MRI examinations at the hospital but also allow for examinations with reduced scan times using the latest technology. The Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology fully covers the university's radiological service portfolio. In addition to the focus on oncological examinations, all acute diagnostic questions for the outpatient clinics, general wards, and intensive care units of the hospital are addressed. A highly performant clinical examination device in terms of speed and image quality, based on current technology, is sought, as it represents an indispensable pillar of diagnostic care in a maximum care hospital. Furthermore, the system will serve as a central platform for innovative research projects. We expect the scanner to support demanding studies in areas such as cardiac MRI, quantitative imaging, and multi-nuclear imaging, as well as the development of new measurement methods for morphological and functional MRI imaging in humans. Integration into existing research infrastructures and openness to future and in-house developments are therefore of particular importance.
