NAVISP-EL1-133-RESILIENT PNT BY A COMBINED GNSS/ELORAN/INS APPROACH FOR U-SPACE APPLICATIONS EXPRO+

This activity will define a hybrid Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) concept for U-space Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)drone operations under EU Regulation 2021/664. GNSS-only solutions are vulnerable to jamming and spoofing, and their performance islimited by multipath propagation and long PPP convergence times. The proposed concept is a loosely coupled PNT stack combining Galileo OSNMA authentication, Galileo HAS high-accuracy corrections, eLoran timing, a barometric altimeter and inertial sensors. It buildson previous NAVISP work on compact H-field eLoran antennas and integrated GNSS/eLoran receivers. The activity will assess how timing aiding can accelerate PPP convergence, improve resilience to interference and spoofing, support GNSS fault detection, and provide PNT-health indicators for U-space services such as Remote ID, Flight Authorisation and Geo-awareness. It will propose KPIs, reference datasets and test methods for assessing hybrid PNT performance, and consider how hybrid-PNT integrity information could support SORA safety assessments and Remote ID position reporting. The outputs will include a reference architecture for timing-aided hybrid PNT, a conceptual UAV-based demonstrator outlining a pathway towards TRL 4, and recommendations for future higher-TRL developments.
