Im Regelfall sind die Odorieranlagen in separaten Räumen (Ex-Zone 1) im Gebäude der Gasdruckregelanlage untergebracht. In wenigen Fällen steht kein Raum zur Verfügung, so dass ein Außenschrank an das bestehende Gebäude montiert werden muss.
