Description

AUDA-NEPAD is seeking an experienced Policy Advocacy and Communications Consultantto support the Health and Wellbeing Cluster and the Securing Continental Access to Lifesaving Essential Medical Products (SCALE) Programme. The Health and Wellbeing Cluster drives high-impact, multi-country and multi-sectoral health initiatives aligned with the AU Agenda 2063. The SCALE Programme focuses on strengthening health product value chains and promoting sustainable access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medical products across AU Member States.The consultant will develop and implement apolicy advocacy and strategic communications frameworkto strengthen the visibility and positioning of the Health and Wellbeing Cluster and SCALE Programme, build stakeholder and political support, enhance thought leadership, and support partnerships and resource mobilisation. Develop a comprehensivePolicy Advocacy and Communications Strategyfor the Health and Wellbeing Cluster and SCALE Programme. Develop key messages aligned with AU priorities and Agenda 2063. Produce high-level advocacy and thought leadership content, including policy briefs, speeches and opinion pieces. Support stakeholder consultations and high-level dialogues. Develop digital communications and branding materials. Identify strategic media opportunities and support media briefings and outreach. The assignment will deliver: 1 Advocacy and Communications Strategy 16 communications materials, including digital brochures, website content, thought leadership articles and digital content 8 branding materials, including presentation templates, a programme logo and banners 4 media engagements, including media statements/press releases Support for 4 stakeholder consultative meetings, including materials and reports 1 Final Consultancy Report The consultancy will run for8 calendar months, fromSeptember 2026 to April 2027, for an anticipated140 man-days. The assignment will primarily be remote, with frequent visits to the AUDA-NEPAD offices in Centurion, South Africa, and travel to other African countries as required for strategic meetings. The total consultancy budget isUS$50,000for 140 man-days. Applicants should have: A minimumMaster’s degreein Communications, Media Studies, Journalism or a related field. At least7 years’ experiencein strategic communications, advocacy, public affairs or development communications. Experience developing and implementing communications and advocacy strategies for international organisations, preferably the AU, RECs, UN or public health institutions. A proven track record in content development, media relations and stakeholder engagement. Experience supporting high-level or policy-focused programmes. Language:Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an additional AU language is an advantage.
