Državni arhiv Republike Severne Makedonije (DARSM) je skrbnik arhivskega gradiva za severno-makedonska ministrstva, državne organe in agencije, občine, kulturne in znanstvene institucije, poslovne subjekte in fizične osebe. Celoten arhiv je trenutno v fizični obliki, nahaja se na več mestih in se sooča z veliko prostorsko stisko. Dolgoročni cilj DARSM je, da bi obstoječe arhivsko gradivo iz fizične oblike prenesel v elektronsko obliko in vzpostavil celovito rešitev elektronskega sistema arhiviranja in s tem olajšal tako proces arhiviranja kot tudi dostop do arhivskega gradiva. V sklopu projekta se bo v prvi fazi pripravila analiza obstoječega stanja na področju arhiviranja v Republiki Severni Makedoniji ter predlogi za dopolnitev obstoječe zakonodaje in predpisov na področju arhiviranja. Sledila bo priprava strategije uvedbe dokumentnega sistema ter digitalizacije procesa arhiviranja v Republiki Severni Makedoniji in razvoja državnega e-arhiva v okviru DARSM, izvedbeni načrt ter študija izvedljivosti. V drugi fazi se bo v obliki pilotnega projekta DIG_DARSM delno digitalizirala arhivska dokumentacija DARSM, ki vključuje uvedbo novega oziroma zamenjavo obstoječega dokumentnega sistema, kar bo vključevalo namestitev rešitev na strežnik DARSM. Pripravljena strategija uvedbe novega dokumentnega sistema in digitalizacije procesa arhiviranja bo omogočila postopno digitalizacijo celotnega arhiva.
