Project management for the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space Affairs (BMFTR) in the area of Technological Sovereignty and Innovations – Key Technology Battery

In battery research, the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space Affairs (BMFTR) will in future prioritize measures that contribute to the goal of “Establishing a competitive battery production and circular economy in Germany, embedded in a European production network by 2035” of the High-Tech Agenda Germany (HTAD). Achieving technological sovereignty and creating new value creation in Germany are the central goals of the associated BMFTR funding measures. The core tasks in project funding concern the technical support and assistance of the client’s (AG) research and innovation policy. This includes supporting the AG in the preparation of strategy and planning documents as well as concepts related to the implementation, updating, and evaluation of the funding program. Furthermore, they include – also comprehensive – support tasks for the client (AG) by the contractor (AN) in direct connection with the funding business, including technical information, conducting appointments, and further innovation-supporting measures such as technology monitoring/foresight and strategy development. The accompanying tasks are further related to the funding business and include, in particular, supporting the AG in other tasks, such as title management, technical information, or procurement. In the interest of efficient program support, the contractor (AN) must also use methods and tools involving artificial intelligence (AI) within the scope of these tasks. The technical-scientific and administrative support of the funding projects must remain adequately ensured by appropriately trained and qualified employees of the contractor (AN); the AI applications used must be regularly checked for plausibility.
