Projektovaný úsek rýchlostnej cesty R2 bude prepájať výhľadovo predchádzajúci úsek R2 Ožďany Zacharovce s nasledujúcim úsekom R2 Bátka — Figa. Na začiatku úseku rýchlostnej cesty R2 sa nachádza mimoúrovňová križovatka (MÚK) Zacharovce, ktorá zabezpečuje napojenie rýchlostnej cesty R2 na cestu 1/16 (pôvodné označenie 1/50) a miestnu komunikáciu do Rimavskej Soboty. Križovatka Zacharovce bola v stupni dokumentácie na územné rozhodnutie (DÓR) zahrnutá v predchádzajúcom úseku rýchlostnej cesty R2 Ožďany — Zacharovce. V stupni dokumentácie na stavebné povolenie (DSP) je križovatka vrátane súvisiacich objektov zaradená do riešeného úseku R2 Zacharovce — Bátka, aby bolo zabezpečené pripojenie na jestvujúcu cestnú sieť v čase, kedy ešte nebude zrealizovaný predchádzajúci úsek. Tomášovce a Bátka opäť prekrižuje cestu 1/16 a následne vedie v jej súbehu severne od cesty I. triedy. Trasa je ukončená za križovatkou Bátka, kde sa napája na nasledujúci úsek R2 Bátka — Figa. Prejazd tranzitnej dopravy po ceste 1/16 má veľmi negatívny dopad pre obyvateľov pozdĺž tejto komunikácie. Ide predovšetkým o Rimavskú Sobotu časť Bakta, kde sa najviac prejavujú negatívne účinky z hluku, exhalátov a vibrácií pri vedení cesty I. triedy prieťahom cez obec. Podrobné vymedzenie predmetu zákazky je vo Zväzku 1 až Zväzku 5 súťažných podkladov.
