Recruitment of a consultant for a study on the evaluation of the potential and feasibility of carbon pricing approaches in Cameroon.

The West African Development Bank (BOAD) is seeking to recruit a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive study on carbon pricing in Cameroon. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the potential benefits and the practical feasibility of implementing various carbon pricing mechanisms within the country. This initiative aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change by creating economic incentives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The consultant will be expected to analyze existing economic and environmental conditions in Cameroon, identify suitable carbon pricing instruments (such as carbon taxes or emissions trading systems), assess their potential impact on different sectors of the economy, and evaluate the institutional and regulatory frameworks required for their successful implementation. The study will also involve stakeholder consultations and the development of recommendations for policy-makers. The findings of this study will inform Cameroon's climate policy and its engagement in international climate finance mechanisms. The selected consultant will need to possess strong expertise in environmental economics, climate policy, and public finance.
