Rehabilitation of hydro-sanitary conditions in 10 Child Development Centers (CDI) located in Chinandega, Matagalpa, Madriz and Nueva Segovia

Agency: UNICEF | Reference: LRPS 2026-9206842 | Type: Request for proposal The objective of these Terms of Reference is to guide the bidding process to identify suitable contractors for the works described below in accordance with the agreed quality, budget, and deadlines. The overall objective of the project is to improve access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene in 10 Child Development Centers (10) located in the west and north-central part of the country in order to contribute to the provision of essential services for girls and boys in safe, healthy, and dignified environments. Nature of works and location: This project includes the rehabilitation of the hydro-sanitary systems of three (03) Child Development Centers located in Chinandega, (01) in Matagalpa, (05) CDIs in Madriz, and (01) CDI in Nueva Segovia. The works include the rehabilitation of the main supply lines and pipes for drinking water supply, installation of storage tanks with their towers or support structures, construction of cisterns, installation of drinking fountains and handwashing stations, rehabilitation of sanitary services, setup of laundry areas (washers and floor mops), rehabilitation and cleaning of wastewater treatment systems, absorption wells and manholes, as well as the installation of piping networks and accessories for wastewater treatment. Furthermore, the operational capacity of the CDIs will be strengthened through the provision of equipment, materials, and supplies for the integral care activities of early childhood, as well as providing tools and supplies that facilitate the operation and maintenance of WASH works and facilities. Project organization into phases: This project is unique, in that it is not part of a larger construction project for hydro-sanitary works in Child Development Centers. The planned interventions are small-scale and are exclusively aimed at rehabilitating existing hydro-sanitary conditions. The project execution will be carried out in a single phase, planned for a period of 04 months (120 calendar days) during which the 10 CDIs that make up the process are required to be rehabilitated simultaneously, in accordance with the scope of work and technical specifications described in Annex E (Technical Documents), as well as all applicable construction and water-sanitation-hygiene sector standards in Nicaragua, and UNICEF's acceptance criteria. Division of the project into lots: The project is divided geographically into three lots distributed across 04 departments and 09 municipalities. Lot No. 1 consists of 03 CDIs located in the municipalities of Villanueva (01) and Somotillo (01) in Chinandega, and Ciudad Dario (01) in Matagalpa. Lot No. 2 also consists of 03 CDIs located in Palacagüina (02), and Telpaneca (01) in the department of Madriz. Lot No. 3 consists of 04 CDIs in the municipalities of Yalagüina (01), San Jose de Cusmapa (01), and San Lucas (01) in Madriz, and Mozonte (01) in Nueva Segovia, as shown below.
