Reconstruction and extension of the school building and construction of the school sports hall of Vladimir Gortan Elementary School in Žminj

The project “Reconstruction and extension of the school building and construction of the school sports hall of Vladimir Gortan Elementary School in Žminj for the purpose of introducing single-shift teaching” aims to provide infrastructural and material capacities for the introduction of single-shift teaching and to create prerequisites for the introduction of all-day school at Vladimir Gortan Elementary School in Žminj, through reconstruction, extension, addition and equipping of the elementary school building, construction and equipping of a new school sports hall, construction of a photovoltaic power plant, and arrangement and equipping of outdoor spaces, in order to improve the quality of education and students' educational outcomes. It is planned to remove parts of the building (football club, west and north wing, and storage), reconstruct the remainder, and extend the west and north wings with a new entrance with an elevator. School building - The functional organization of space is maintained. The ground floor houses the entrance with a gatehouse, a multipurpose room, a library, changing rooms, classrooms, and cabinets. The north wing includes a dining room, kitchen, workshops, and utility rooms connected by a separate entrance. The first floor will house administration offices, specialist support staff rooms, a first aid room, a photo lab, and an archive, while the roof will be accessible. The west wing is intended for classroom teaching with classrooms, cabinets, sanitary facilities, and lockers for students. The main entrance and “warm connection” allow easy passage for students between the school and the sports hall. Sports hall - The hall is adapted for school users, with separate entrances. Facilities include: a large hall with stands, changing rooms, and technical rooms, and a “warm connection” to the school; a small hall with storage rooms and additional changing rooms, and a space for students with sensory and motor impairments. Outdoor spaces - On the newly formed plot, outdoor spaces for teaching areas are planned, namely: nature teaching area, outdoor teaching area, and exercise area TYPE 1, as follows: a combined handball and basketball court; a trim trail and an exercise area with elliptical equipment; outdoor teaching spaces: a flower garden, a vegetable garden, an insect hotel, and an artificial lake, etc.
