Reconstruction of the water supply network in the village of Novostavci (Ukraine)

The existing water supply network in the village of Novostavci, 14.8 km long, was built in 1983 and has never been comprehensively renovated since then. Due to the exceeded lifespan of the pipes, frequent malfunctions, pressure drops, leaks, and water contamination occur, which endanger the health of the residents and worsen sanitary conditions. The three existing artesian wells are also depleted and no longer provide a sufficient amount of water, nor are they equipped with modern monitoring systems. Due to energy-inefficient pumps and high network losses, the system is economically and environmentally unsustainable. Within the framework of the reconstruction project of the water supply network in the village of Novostavci, a series of comprehensive activities will be carried out, aimed at modernizing and improving the quality of drinking water supply. A new artesian well will be constructed, taking into account hydrogeological analysis and laboratory testing of water quality. A key phase of the project is the extensive replacement of the worn-out network – 14.8 km of pipes will be replaced with modern polymer pipes, which will significantly reduce water losses and prevent further damage. Energy-efficient pumps will also be installed, which will reduce electricity consumption and increase system reliability. In addition, a remote monitoring system will be installed to monitor water flow and pressure, which will enable a quick response to potential problems and ensure stable system operation. The project also includes training local staff for the management and maintenance of the new infrastructure. All activities will contribute to improving living conditions in the village, increasing the community's resilience to environmental challenges, and the long-term sustainable use of natural resources.
