The Republic of Guinea is developing Africa's first sector-specific carbon pricing mechanism targeting the non-energy sector. The Carbon Pricing Instrument (CPI) for the mining sector is a central pillar of the country's revised Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), with a goal of reducing sectoral emissions by 30% by 2040, within the framework of Vision 2040.
