Water and Drainage Systems within Buildings according to DIN 18381 As part of the restructuring, expansion, and renovation of a museum building in Karlsruhe, the sanitary (excluding insulation) trade is being tendered. The systems to be installed comprise a large and complexly structured construction project. The overall system consists of a cold water network with softened water and a cold water line with osmosis water. The museum has visitor toilets, staff toilets, kitchenettes, and a small kitchen for the operation of the museum café for the preparation and serving of drinks and small meals. Hot water is prepared decentrally using instantaneous water heaters. The largest part of the pipe insulation will be awarded in a separate contract. The building extends over seven levels - from the 2nd basement to the roof level - and includes exhibition and technical areas as well as offices, workshops, gastronomy, media library, and storage and restoration areas. Pipe routing takes place in partly confined or listed areas with limited accessibility (e.g., historic roof structures, vaults, low shafts). The installation of technical equipment is carried out via staircases and construction site elevators. Close coordination with other trades (ventilation, heating/cooling, electrical, building automation, insulation) is required, especially in confined spaces and complex installation sequences. The tendered services offer a high technical demand as well as logistical effort and require experience in dealing with sensitive building fabric, limited space, and demanding installation coordination. The building is a listed monument. All work must therefore be carried out with special consideration of the monument protection requirements and the existing historical building fabric. Additionally, the awarding of 'maintenance services' is part of the procedure.
