YKAN’s Standard ClausesConflict Of Interest Disclosure Form ENGConflict Of Interest Disclosure Form IND Description:YKAN is inviting eligible firms/entities to submit proposal for the following scope of work:Project BackgroundThe Province of Bangka Belitung Islands has a very extensive mangrove ecosystem, covering approximately 67,386.54 hectares, with conditions that are relatively well preserved, including the presence of ancient (old-growth) mangroves and oceanic mangroves. This makes the region one of the important mangrove areas in Indonesia and gives it significant potential for the development of a blue economy based on coastal resources.Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) is currently assisting six villages in Bangka and Belitung. Among these, three villages—Kotakapur, Kotawaringin, and Gantung—have strong potential for developing mud crab enterprises. This commodity has high economic value and has been utilized for generations by coastal communities, contributing additional income of around IDR 4.8–6 million per fisher per month during the active season. However, mud crab utilization is still largely traditional and not yet supported by sufficient scientific data, particularly regarding stock abundance, population size structure, mangrove habitat carrying capacity, and safe harvesting limits. Existing data are still snapshot-based, making them inadequate to support medium- and long-term decision-making. This situation creates risks such as overfishing, disruption of reproductive processes and natural recruitment, and unsustainable harvesting practices, such as catching undersized crabs or egg-bearing females. On the other hand, the government and YKAN are promoting the strengthening of a mangrove-based blue economy through social forestry schemes. Therefore, mud crab management needs to be ensured to be based on ecosystem carrying capacity, provide sustainable economic benefits, and remain aligned with mangrove conservation efforts. To support this, a comprehensive study is required that integrates ecological, capture fisheries, socio-economic, and community governance aspects. This study aims to generate baseline data on crab abundance and population structure, determine the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), understand seasonal variations, and identify potential areas with relatively high abundance. The approach will be science-based, participatory, and involve local community groups, with the expectation of supporting sustainable mud crab enterprise development while preserving the mangrove ecosystem.Objectives/Purposes of the Assignment:YKAN is seeking a qualified Consultant to held Study of Abundance, Carrying Capacity, Productivity, and Sustainability of Mud Crab (Scylla sp.)
