About This Opportunity

This is a services contract in the information and communication technology sector, with a focus on Software and Telecommunications. Located in Ukraine, Europe, this opportunity is open to firms and consortiums.

Published through ESA - European Space Agency, a multilateral development bank that follows standardized international procurement guidelines. Projects funded by multilateral institutions are generally open to international bidders from eligible member countries for services in the information and communication technology sector. Service contracts are typically evaluated on both technical quality and price, and may require bidders to demonstrate relevant experience and qualified personnel. This is an advance notice — the formal tender is expected to be published shortly. Interested parties can use this time to prepare documentation and identify potential partners.

Description

Plants are expected to contribute to future exploration systems by providing food, biological resources and regenerative functions during long-duration missions. However, altered-gravity environments can affect plant growth, development, intracellular transport, stress signalling and resource allocation. Autophagy and programmed cell death are conserved cellular processes involved in the degradation and recycling of cellular components and in the regulation of plant development and stress adaptation. Their interaction with cytoskeletal organisation and metabolic regulation may therefore influence the capacity of plants to maintain stable growth and productivity under space-relevant conditions. The objective of the activity is to improve understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern plant adaptation to altered-gravity conditions and to translate this knowledge into recommendations supporting reliable plant-based biological production on future space platforms.
