Monthey Combined Terminal: gantry crane project with trolley for containers

On the industrial site of Terminal Combiné Monthey SA, located south of one of Switzerland's largest chemical sites, a new container terminal for multimodal handling is under construction. At the "Monthey Combined Terminal" container terminal, goods are transshipped multimodally (rail, truck). In addition to the transshipment of containers carrying dangerous goods, hazardous materials, or water-polluting substances, the terminal also handles the transshipment and storage of commercial goods containers as well as empty containers. Thanks to the boom on the fixed support side of the container cranes, a useful reach of approximately 11.5 meters is achieved. This reach is designed to allow service of both railway tracks. Within the 36.8-meter span of the container cranes, there is a container storage area over 6 rows, flexible parking areas for trailers, and a traffic lane and a loading lane for trucks. Thanks to the boom on the mobile support side, a useful reach of 9.0 meters is achieved. This boom also incorporates an additional storage area allowing containers to be stored over 2 rows. The stacking height of containers is designed to reach 4 High Cube containers, with the possibility of passing over with an additional High Cube container mounted on the crane. The crane's travel path will be approximately 250 meters long, with a work area covered by the crane over approximately 230 meters in the longitudinal direction of the path. As part of the construction of the new terminal, the crane's travel path will be built in the southeast/northwest axis, with a constant longitudinal slope of 0.35%. The floor slab has a slope of 0.85%. Due to the proximity of the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) railway line, care must be taken to ensure that assembly work does not interfere with the railway protection zone.
