Bamberg Service - Municipal Utility of the City of Bamberg - operates a centrifuge at the Bamberg wastewater treatment plant for the mechanical thickening and disintegration of excess sludge. The City of Bamberg intends to fundamentally renew the sludge dewatering of its wastewater treatment plant. The reason for this project is the age-related wear and tear of the existing mechanical and electrical systems, whose oldest components date from 2008. The measure serves to ensure operational reliability, reduce maintenance and energy costs, and minimize downtime. Furthermore, it is intended to ensure optimal energy yield in the downstream plant sections. As part of the renovation, a 1:1 replacement of the technical equipment is planned. Specifically, the thin sludge pump, decanter centrifuge, thick sludge pump, disintegration unit, solids shredder, digester sludge pump, raw sludge pump, and various fittings will be renewed. The existing stainless steel piping installation will largely remain and will only be adapted to the new equipment. A bypass line is planned to bridge the gap during the construction phase. Additionally, a hot water system for cleaning the centrifuge will be installed. The renovations will be carried out during ongoing operation. Dates: Planning is to begin immediately after commissioning and be completed promptly. Construction work is to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2028. The mentioned milestones serve as a temporal orientation. The public contracting authority points out that prompt processing is required. Costs: The total cost forecast (Cost Groups 300, 400) is approximately EUR 2.2 million net, or EUR 2.6 million gross (no price increase included).
