Terms of Reference for IUCN Consultancy Documentation of TWENDE success stories (videography and photography) Objective of the Consultancy The main objective of the photography and videography activity is to professionally document and edit success stories as per TWENDE’s 3 components and produce 3 component stories and 1 overall project video using high-definition video and still photography. The content should:  Highlight changes in people’s lives, livelihoods, and environments attributable to TWENDE interventions.  Capture authentic testimonials from beneficiaries, community leaders, and local government partners.  Provide a bank of high-resolution images and raw video footage for future communication needs.  Keeping in mind gender and social inclusion dynamics, to capture compelling imagery and footage of key stakeholders, community members, and landscapes. Combining the latest science with the 1 | P age traditional knowledge of local communities, these projects work to reverse habitat loss, restore ecosystems and improve people’s well-being. www.iucn.org About TWENDE TWENDE (Towards Ending Drought Emergencies) funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has been under implementation for the past 5 years. The objective of the project is to reduce the cost of climate change-induced drought on Kenya’s national economy by increasing the resilience of livestock and other land use sectors in restored and effectively governed rangeland ecosystems. The project seeks to strengthen climate change adaptation in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). The project targets 11 counties in two major climate zones and borders 3 critical landscapes and ecosystems. The project aims to benefit 620,000 people in 104,000 households and will protect or restore 500,000 hectares of rangelands in a landscape of 2.5 million hectares. The target landscapes face challenges of weak capacities for landscape planning, poor access to climate data and analysis, and low access to markets and financial services. The project addresses these challenges through three components, each implemented by a different executing entity under the leadership and guidance of the accredited entity, IUCN. The project is implemented in two landscapes (Sabarwawa/Mid Tana and KyuluHills) encompassing 11 counties. These target landscapes face challenges of weak capacities for landscape planning, poor access to climate data and analysis, and low access to markets and financial services. Implementation of the TWENDE project is through three components: Component 1: Climate change adapted planning for drought resilience – The component ensures coordinated transboundary rangeland management decisions are strengthened by enhanced climate change analysis and participatory community and county planning. The component contributes to addressing the barriers of weak capabilities and inadequate governance institutions Component 2: Restoration of rangeland landscapes for ecosystem-based adaptation – The components main output is to ensure prioritized rangeland resources (including water), are brought under restoration, safeguarded and sustainably managed for improved climate change resilience; Component 3: Climate change resilient ecosystem management for investments– Main focus is public, private and community investments in natural resources, addressing barriers related to insufficient investment in rangelands and poor access to markets and financial services. TWENDE is implemented by IUCN (the Accredited Entity) and Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MoALFC); National Drought Management Authority (NDMA); and Conservation International (CI). 2 | P age Scope of Work The consultant/firm will perform the following tasks:  Pre-production  Review background project documents (reports, previous success stories) to understand the thematic areas and identify potential story angles.  Participate in a kick-off meeting with the TWENDE project team to align on the creative vision, messaging, and logistics.  Develop a detailed production plan and shot list, including an indicative storyboard for each video story, for approval.  Propose and finalize a list of interviewees and filming locations in consultation with project field staff.  Field production (Videography)  Travel to 12 project sites across Kenya to film high-definition (minimum 1080p Full HD, 4K preferred) video footage.  For each success story, capture: o Master interview of the primary beneficiary/story subject (well-lit, clear audio with external microphone). o Supporting interviews (family members, community members, project staff, local government). o Extensive B-roll of activities: before/after landscapes, project infrastructure, daily livelihoods, interactions, and details that visually tell the story.
