Description

UVA | FONTAINE DATA CENTERBA090426The University seeks to retain a skilled contractor for full construction services in accordance with the provisions of the University of Virginia Higher Education Capital Outlay Manual. This procurement will be a Two Step (IFB) Invitation for Bids where the University of Virginia will pre-qualify construction firms that demonstrate comparable experience in similar complex project settings balancing the needs of neighboring facilities focused on patient care. The pre-qualified firms will receive an IFB with 100% Construction Documents. The contract will be awarded based on Competitive Sealed Bidding. Project Overview and Scope:The University of Virginia is developing a new Data Center at Fontaine Research Park in Charlottesville, Virginia to support Academic Research high-performance computing and UVA Health Information Technology (HIT). The proposed three-story building will be approximately 50,000 square feet. The project is adjacent to the new zero combustion Fontaine Central Energy Plant and is one of several near-term projects being executed at Fontaine Research Park to fulfill the 2018 Fontaine Master Plan. The day-one capacity will be 4MW for Research Computing and 500mW for HIT with plans to scale up to 17MW in the future.
