De afdeling Vergunningen en Handhaving beoordeelt initiatieven van derden om ervoor te zorgen dat onze doelen niet in gevaar komen en waar mogelijk zelfs versterken. We zoeken met de initiatiefnemers binnen wettelijke kaders naar passende oplossingen. Kennis van het watersysteem en wet- en regelgeving op het gebied van waterveiligheid, waterkwaliteit en waterkwantiteit vormen daarbij onze leidraden. Je behandelt vergunningaanvragen en meldingen gericht op waterkwaliteit. Je beoordeeld en herziet watervergunningen en draag zorg voor het up-to-date brengen van de lozingsvergunningen en meldingen. Je adviseert aanvragers van vergunningen over de mogelijkheden, de risico?s en de alternatieven. Je stelt vergunningen op met bijbehorende voorschriften en motivatie. Je adviseert andere overheden over afvalwater gerelateerde aspecten voor de lozingen met hierbij het afwegen van de belangen en mogelijke risico?s. Je beoordeelt zienswijzen en bezwaarschriften en toetst ingewonnen adviezen. Je werkt intern nauw samen met juristen en handhavers. Extern werk je samen met andere adviesbureaus, netwerkbedrijven en overheden zoals de provincie, gemeenten, Rijkswaterstaat en Omgevingsdiensten. Je speelt in op beleidswijzigingen, ontwikkelingen in de technologie en de regelgeving (zoals bijvoorbeeld de (implementatie van de) Omgevingswet en op onverwachte omstandigheden
