Original language: GermanDie Heiliggeistkirche in Heidelberg ist die wichtigste Kirche in Heidelberg und prägt zusammen mit dem Heidelberger Schloss und der alten Brücke über den Neckar das Stadtbild Heidelbergs. Die ursprüngliche Universitätskirche ist Gründungsort der ältesten Universität in Deutschland und war Standort der einst bedeutendsten Bibliothek in Deutschland, der Bibliotheca Palatina. Die gesamte Bibliothek wurde im Zuge des 30-jährigen Kriegs in den Vatikan verschleppt, die deutsch-sprachigen Bücher und Druckwerke wurden nach dem Wiener Kongress an die Universitätsbibliothek in Heidelberg zurückgegeben. Im Rahmen des geplanten Bauvorhabens ist die Errichtung einer Ausstellung über die Bibliotheca Palatina auf den seit über 400 leergeräumten Emporen der Heiliggeistkirche geplant.
