Opportunity Zones (OZs) are federally designated tracts meant to spur investment in undercapitalized communities. Applications are now being accepted to designate new opportunity zones in 99 census tracts across Washington. Commerce is accepting nomination applications to designate new OZs in Washington state. After the application period closes, Governor Ferguson designate OZs and submit his recommendations to the U.S. Treasury in a 90-day window beginning July 1, 2026.
