Aninver Development Partners SL (www.aninver.com) is looking for a Gender Assessment Expert for a environment consultancy assignment financed by UNIDO in Senegal.

Aninver Development Partners SL is currently preparing a proposal for a UNIDO-backed environmental initiative in Senegal aimed at advancing climate actions, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting climate-friendly cooling solutions. We are seeking a qualified Gender Assessment Expert to join our multidisciplinary consulting team for this 12-month assignment.

The overarching initiative focuses on developing strategic frameworks, building stakeholder capacity, and drafting quality project concept notes aligned with national climate and energy goals. The Gender Assessment Expert will play a critical role in ensuring that gender considerations are systematically integrated across all project activities, study reports, and concept notes.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Integrate gender equality and women's empowerment principles into the environmental and climate-friendly cooling initiatives in Senegal.
• Conduct comprehensive gender analyses to inform project concept notes and study reports.
• Ensure compliance with donor gender requirements and national policy priorities.
• Support stakeholder consultations and participatory workshops with a strong focus on gender inclusivity.

Scope of work

• Participate in inception meetings and contribute to the detailed action plan and workplan.
• Conduct desk reviews and field studies related to gender dynamics within the cooling, energy efficiency, and climate change sectors in Senegal.
• Contribute to the main study report by integrating gender-disaggregated data and gender impact assessments.
• Ensure gender-responsive design in the drafting of at least two project concept notes.
• Support the organization and execution of stakeholder evaluation and validation workshops, ensuring balanced gender representation.
• Update study reports and concept notes based on stakeholder feedback and validation comments.

Your role as Gender Assessment Expert

• Lead the gender assessment components of the assignment, ensuring alignment with UNIDO and international gender standards.
• Perform gender analysis to identify specific vulnerabilities, roles, and opportunities for women in the energy efficiency and cooling sectors.
• Draft gender mainstreaming sections for study reports and project concept notes.
• Collaborate with national ministries, executing entities, and civil society organizations to gather gender-relevant data.
• Facilitate gender-focused discussions during stakeholder consultations and validation workshops.
• Review project outputs to ensure gender sensitivities and impacts are adequately addressed and documented.

Requirements

• Education: Not stated
• Over 5 years of experience in Gender analysis
• Languages: Fluency in French (written and oral) is mandatory

Desirable

• Previous experience working on UNIDO, GCF, or other international donor-funded environmental projects.
• Familiarity with national energy efficiency strategies and cooling sector policies in West Africa.

An experienced Gender Assessment Expert with a strong background in environmental and climate initiatives in Senegal, capable of seamlessly integrating gender considerations into technical reports and project concept notes.
