Structural Engineer (Bridges) – Armenia

Aninver Development Partners SL (www.aninver.com) is looking for a Structural Engineer (Bridges) for a transport, engineering, construction consultancy assignment financed by EBRD in Armenia.

Aninver Development Partners SL is currently preparing a proposal for an upcoming consultancy assignment funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Armenia. The initiative focuses on modernizing critical international transport links and trade corridors through comprehensive feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and due diligence for new border crossing infrastructure and a dedicated border crossing bridge.

To strengthen our expert team for this transport and construction sector initiative, we are seeking a qualified Structural Engineer (Bridges). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering robust technical solutions aligned with international engineering standards, climate resilience measures, and institutional requirements of the country's national authorities and the donor.

Aninver is preparing a proposal for this assignment. The selected expert will be part of the proposed team; the engagement is conditional on the contract being awarded to Aninver. The full Terms of Reference for the position are shared with shortlisted candidates.

Objectives of the assignment

• Conduct comprehensive structural engineering evaluations for the new border crossing bridge in the country.
• Ensure all bridge designs comply with international engineering standards, safety requirements, and EBRD guidelines.
• Integrate climate resilience and sustainable practices into the structural design process.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including transport economists, environmental specialists, and local public authorities.

Scope of work

• Review available documentation, national strategies, master plans, and previous studies regarding the target border crossing bridge.
• Conduct stakeholder consultations with national customs authorities, ministries, and transport operators.
• Perform structural, geotechnical, and hydrological evaluations for the new border crossing bridge.
• Develop preliminary engineering concepts and optioneering for the bridge infrastructure.
• Incorporate multimodal border crossing workflows and operational procedures into structural layouts.
• Contribute to environmental and social screening and climate resilience assessments alongside specialized experts.

Your role as Structural Engineer (Bridges)

• Lead the structural engineering and design aspects specifically concerning the new border crossing bridge.
• Perform hands-on structural, geotechnical, and hydrological evaluations required for bridge planning.
• Develop concept designs and optioneering options for the bridge crossing in coordination with the broader engineering team.
• Ensure technical alignment with international standards and donor requirements, including climate resilience integration.
• Contribute to technical inputs for feasibility reports, preliminary design documentation, and cost-benefit analyses.
• Participate in technical meetings and consultations with local beneficiaries, stakeholders, and the EBRD.

Requirements

• Education: University graduate in civil, mechanical, building engineering, architecture or equivalent sector
• Hands-on experience in designing bridges of similar size
• Languages: Fluency in English is essential

Desirable

• Preferably 15 years of general working experience
• Preferably experience in Armenia or the region
• Previous professional experience in Armenia or the broader Caucasus region.
• Familiarity with international financial institution (IFI) guidelines and standards, particularly EBRD.

An experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in bridge design, over 15 years of general working experience, and regional expertise in Armenia or neighboring countries.
