Description

The Agricultural Innovation Project - Phase II (AIP II), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ GmbH in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MALR), seeks a qualified service provider to support the scaling-up of climate-resilient and market-oriented agricultural innovations for smallholder farmers in Upper Egypt. The assignment will be implemented in the governorates of Beni Suef, Minya, Asyut and Sohag and will target approximately 6,600 smallholder farmers and 200 rural stakeholders across selected agricultural value chains. The service provider will implement a Living Lab approach combined with Farmer Field School elements, referred to as Interactive Demo Plots, to facilitate the practical adoption and scaling of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), post-harvest practices and other validated agricultural innovations. The services will include training of trainers, establishment and implementation of Interactive Demo Plots, farmer field visits, knowledge exchange and dissemination, and support to inclusive contract farming and Land-Use Consolidation. The service provider will also be responsible for the procurement of approved agricultural technologies, inputs and related materials required for the implementation of the demonstration activities. The selection of technologies and solutions will be undertaken in close consultation with and subject to the approval of AIP II/GIZ, while the service provider will manage the subsequent procurement and implementation. The tender is aimed at experienced service providers with demonstrated expertise in climate-resilient agriculture, agricultural extension and farmer training, Living Lab/Farmer Field School approaches, agricultural innovation and value-chain development, as well as the capacity to manage field-level implementation and related procurement in Egypt.
