De provincie Gelderland werkt samen met het waterschap Rijn & IJssel en de gemeente Winterswijk aan de Gebiedsontwikkeling Winterswijk. De betrokken overheden werken hierin gelijkwaardig samen. Het doel is te komen tot een uitvoerbaar gebiedsprogramma voor het buitengebied van Winterswijk, waarin maatregelen op het gebied van onder andere natuurherstel (Natura 2000), waterkwaliteit (KRW), klimaatadaptatie en toekomstperspectief voor landbouw en landschap samenkomen.
