BG University Hospital Bergmannsheil, Building 1 - Building Planning

The Berufsgenossenschaftliche Universitätsklinikum Bergmannsheil gGmbH is one of the largest maximum-care acute hospitals in the Ruhr area. Founded in 1890 as the world's first trauma clinic for injured miners, Bergmannsheil today combines 23 highly specialized clinics and departments under one roof. Around 2,200 employees ensure the care of approximately 84,000 patients per year. In 1977, Bergmannsheil became a university hospital of the Ruhr University Bochum, along with other clinics from the Bochum region. The "Bochum Model," initially started as a temporary solution, was later developed into a permanent one. As a university hospital, research and teaching are also conducted at Bergmannsheil. The nine acute care clinics of the statutory accident insurance are among the largest trauma centers in Germany. Together with two clinics for occupational diseases and two accident treatment centers, they, as BG Kliniken, provide care for almost 550,000 patients per year with innovative, top-level medicine. In 2016, a fire occurred in Building 1 of the clinic complex. Due to the extinguishing water and the associated damage to the building's technical systems, the building has been largely unusable since then. The functions originally housed in Building 1 were therefore relocated to interim spaces within the existing facilities or to a replacement bed building. Following a comprehensive revision of the structural target planning for the entire clinic site, detailed needs planning and a feasibility study were carried out for Building 1. The result is that the building will house therapy areas for the BG Rehabilitation department in the future, as well as the central kitchen, the staff canteen, and outpatient clinics. Plans include demolition down to the ground floor, an extension of the therapy area, and the renovation of the outpatient clinics with the staff canteen on the ground floor and the former central kitchen in the basement. The subject of this VgV procurement procedure are the required services for "Building and Interior Planning" according to §34 in conjunction with Annex 10 of the HOAI 2021 in LPH 1 - 8, plus special services. Building 1 is the high-rise part of the building damaged by the fire in 2016 on the property of the Berufsgenossenschaftliches Universitätsklinikum Bergmannsheil gGmbH (hereinafter referred to as the client). There is an urgent need for action in the existing Building 1 due to fire damage and the associated structural defects as well as vacancy. The vacancy extends over a total of seven floors and is therefore considerable. Following the fire, extensive expert reports and investigations into the building fabric and building law situation were carried out. The result was that the structural integrity and basic substance of the building can continue to be used after extensive renovation, but the existing ward structures do not meet the requirements of a modern bed ward. The structural target planning provides for the long-term separation of acute care areas from low-care areas. At the Building 1 site, therefore, mainly low-care areas (e.g., rehabilitation) and service functions are to be located. The therapy areas on the first floor of Building 1 can be connected to the existing therapy areas in Building 12. The location of the central kitchen in the basement of Building 1 has proven effective in the past and offers optimal connection to the basement main corridor and the staff canteen at this location. Deliveries for the central kitchen can also be made directly at Building 1, as the corresponding structures are already present in the basement of Building 1. For reasons of resource and climate protection, it makes sense to continue using these existing facilities. Demolition of the floors from the first floor to the eighth is planned...
