With the 2nd S-Bahn trunk line, the new construction of a double-track S-Bahn line is pursued as a total project, starting in the Munich-Laim passenger station and ending in the Munich-Leuchtenbergring station section with the intermediate stops Hauptbahnhof Bahnhofplatz, Marienhof and Ostbahnhof. To ensure the feasibility of the operating program, a second track will be built on the east side of the existing track between the Steinebach S-Bahn station and the Seefeld-Hechendorf station. The track facilities, civil engineering structures, and technical equipment will be adapted or expanded for double-track operation. The project also includes the barrier-free development of the Steinebach transport station. Furthermore, noise protection measures are planned between the Weßling and Herrsching stations.
