Works

1. The Malawi Government has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Malawi Water and Sanitation Project – 1 (MWSP-1) and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of Public Sanitation Facilities in Primary Schools. For this contract, the Borrower shall process the payments using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the World Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines for Investment Project Financing.
2. Blantyre Water Board now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the following works;

1. Bidding will be conducted through National competitive procurement using Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers- Procurement in Investment Projects Financing” dated September 2025 (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
2. Interested eligible Bidders will be required to attend a pre- bid meeting which will take place on 24th April 2026 from 9.00 hours Central African Time (CAT) at the address given below Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from the Chairperson, Internal Procurement and Disposal of Assets Committee Blantyre Water Board, P.O. Box 30369, Chichiri, Blantyre 3, Malawi, Email: piu@bwb.mw and inspect the bidding document during office hours [07:30 to 16:30 hours CAT] at the address given below
3. The Bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of MK10,000.00. The method of payment will be Direct deposit into Procuring Entity account.
4. Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 11th May 2026 at 09.00 Hours CAT. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below on 11th May 2026 at 09.00 Hours CAT
5. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid-Securing Declaration.
6. Contractor must be registered with Construction Industry Regulatory Authority (CIRA) in MWK5,000,000,000 (MK 5 Billion) Building Engineering Category.
7. All Bids must be accompanied by a Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and/or Sexual Harassment (SH) Declaration.
8. Attention is drawn to the Procurement Regulations requiring the Borrower to disclose information on the successful bidder’s beneficial ownership, as part of the Contract Award Notice, using the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Form as included in the bidding document.
