Develop and implement country-specific frameworks and action plans, including regulations, monitoring protocols and guidelines for coral reef and coastal ecosystem protection and management

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (the CCCCC) has received financing from the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) for the purpose of implementing the project “Enhancing Eco-systems and Coastal Protection for Climate Change Resilience in the Caribbean (ECP-Caribbean)” and intends to apply a part of the proceeds towards payments for the Contract “Develop and implement country-specific frameworks and action plans, including regulations, monitoring protocols and guidelines for coral reef and coastal ecosystem protection and management ”. The main objective of the consultancy is to develop implementation ready, country-specific frameworks, action plans, regulations, and technical guidelines to strengthen the protection, restoration, sustainable management, and climate resilience of coral reefs, mangroves and seagrasses in Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname. The consultancy shall further seek to: • Strengthen national institutional coordination, government arrangements, and implementation mechanisms for integrated coastal and marine environmental management across participating countries. • Support the integration of ecosystem-based adaption, ridge-to-reef management, and climate resilient approaches into national coastal and marine ecosystem planning, restoration and management processes. • Enhance long-term implementation capacity through the development of practical monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and management frameworks that support adaptive management, sustainable livelihoods, and evidence-based decision-making.
