Description

Corangamite Catchment Management Authority is seeking provision of services for the remediation of the East Barwon River Constriction that occurs approximately one kilometre downstream of Birregurra-Forrest Road, Barwon Downs, Victoria. Channel constriction is the result of encroachment by invasive willows over many decades that have resulted in the increased frequency of overbank flooding. The scope of works includes removal of approximately 500 metres of willows extending along the East Barwon River and selective removal of willow rootballs to restore channel capacity and flow. Six floodplain re-entry erosion control points will also be constructed along an adjacent floodplain drainage channel. The works include the creation of five intermittent shallow clay bunds to reduce frequency of overbank flows are the subject works within this tender package. Minor vegetation management within three small floodplain wetlands on site is also required (including willow and invasive wetland vegetation removal).
