De opgave Multimodale Knoop Eindhoven richt zich op de ontwikkeling van een hoogwaardige, robuust en toekomstbestendig station dat past bij de internationale betekenis en groeidynamiek van Brainport Eindhoven. De Multimodale Knoop vormt de spil van het regionale, nationale en internationale mobiliteitsnetwerk. Het project is onlosmakelijk verbonden met de verstedelijkingsopgave in het stationsgebied en de gebiedsontwikkeling Fellenoord.
De opgave Multimodale Knoop Eindhoven gaat de Planning- en Studiefase in. In deze fase wordt het vastgestelde voorkeursalternatief uitgewerkt tot een integraal en bestuurlijk vast te stellen voorlopig ontwerp, inclusief de benodigde onderbouwingen op het gebied van kosten, planning, risico’s en juridische uitvoerbaarheid. De Planning- en Studiefase is nadrukkelijk een integrale ontwerpfase, waar de uitkomsten de basis vormen voor één of meerdere projectbeslissingen en de verdere marktbenadering richting realisatie.
