De provincie Limburg bereidt voor 2025–2028 een Europese aanbesteding voor
ter voortzetting van het grootschalige veldonderzoek naar dassenburchten, dat
noodzakelijk is om burchtlocaties, territoria en de populatiegrootte in kaart te
brengen en zo ecologisch en beleidsmatig onderbouwde keuzes te kunnen maken.
Na de eerdere inventarisatie van Zuid-Limburg richt de nieuwe opdracht zich op
Midden- en Noord-Limburg (circa 475 km²), waar volgens dezelfde methodiek
systematisch te voet wordt geïnventariseerd. De opdrachtnemer, eventueel
met onderaannemers maar met één eindverantwoordelijke partij, verzorgt
coördinatie, dataverwerking en rapportage, wat moet resulteren in een uniforme,
complete kaart van alle burchten inclusief classificatie en een schatting van de
populatiegrootte.
