Position Overview
The Position is Open for Liberia Residents only
The IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, hardening and day-to-day operation of servers, storage, virtualisation, backup and network infrastructure. The role covers data centre and disaster recovery environments, supporting software and end-user support, and resilience and sovereign data management.
Scope of Work
Infrastructure Installation and Configuration
Install, configure and commission physical servers, storage systems and data centre equipment for the production and disaster recovery environments.
Deploy and administer virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter) including clustering, high availability and resource management.
Design, install and configure LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs and load balancing (Cisco and equivalent platforms).
Install and configure operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and supporting software platforms.
Backup, Recovery and Business Continuity
Design, implement and manage enterprise backup and replication using Veeam Backup & Replication, including regular restore testing.
Implement and periodically test disaster recovery and failover procedures in line with agreed RTO/RPO targets.
Maintain resilient, sovereign data management practices in line with government data residency requirements.
Operations, Monitoring and Support
Monitor system, network and application performance; proactively address capacity, availability and performance issues.
Apply updates, patches and service packs to servers and supporting software; maintain configuration baselines and asset registers.
Implement security procedures on infrastructure in coordination with the Cybersecurity Expert (hardening, segmentation, access control).
Provide second-line technical support to the client team and users; manage incidents and service requests to resolution.
Facilitate hardware maintenance with ICT contracted partners and OEM vendors.
Travel to remote and agency locations for installation and support as required.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepare and maintain network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, standard operating procedures and runbooks.
Maintain and monitor work plans, schedules and expenditure related to infrastructure activities.
Document and follow up on important actions and decisions from technical and stakeholder meetings.
Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology
or a related IT field.
Minimum seven (7) years' proven experience in ICT
, including at least three (3) years in server, network and infrastructure installation, configuration and maintenance, preferably within the public sector or large enterprise environments.
Required certifications:
VMware Certified Professional โ Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) or equivalent demonstrable VMware vSphere expertise.
Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) or demonstrable enterprise experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); CCNP Enterprise is a strong added advantage.
Added-advantage certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator; CompTIA Server+/Network+; ITIL 4 Foundation; Oracle certification; Fortinet NSE or equivalent firewall certification.
Hands-on experience with enterprise storage (SAN/NAS), Linux and Windows Server administration, and data centre operations.
Knowledge of cybersecurity and infrastructure hardening best practices.
Experience supporting mission-critical government or financial systems is an added advantage.
Personal Attributes
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex system and network issues under pressure.
Disciplined approach to change management, documentation and security procedures.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including on-call availability for critical incidents.
Willingness to be based in Monrovia and travel to remote locations as required.
