Loading, transport and processing of bottom ash from the IVBO waste incineration plant

The loading, transport and processing of approximately 38,000 tons of bottom ash per year from the incineration of household waste. The processing must include a proven and licensed beneficial use of the bottom ash. Efforts should be made to maximize the beneficial use of the resulting residual fractions. The disposal or removal of residues generated during the processing is also included in the assignment. The residual materials to be processed are: • Incineration ash (also called bottom ash, granular ash, slag from incineration) originating from the incineration of household and similar non-hazardous waste and non-risk medical waste. The ash is obtained through wet slagging. • The incineration ash is not de-ironed and therefore still contains all scrap metal from the incinerated waste. The scrap metal recovered from the bottom ash will be reimbursed to IVBO as revenue; • The incineration ash contains valuable non-ferrous residual fractions that can be recovered from the bottom ash and will be reimbursed to IVBO as revenue; • The incineration ash is solid; • The incineration ash may be in a dry or moist state; The bidder for this assignment is the operator/owner of the processing site where the bottom ash for this assignment will be processed. Only the transport (including loading of the bottom ash at the IVBO site) may be subcontracted.
