L’appalto ha per oggetto l'affidamento della gestione del servizio di ristorazione scolastica e dei nidi d’infanzia da realizzare secondo le modalità più avanti descritte. A tal fine il committente concede all’Assuntore in comodato gratuito le Cucine Comunali ove i pasti saranno prodotti, nonché i locali di consumo dei pasti e le relative pertinenze.
In particolare, il servizio di ristorazione scolastica, rivolto ai bambini delle scuole del territorio (asilo nido, scuole dell’infanzia e scuole primarie) in base agli orari e ai calendari di funzionamento delle stesse, costituisce un servizio con una forte “valenza pubblica”, conseguentemente rappresenta un importante veicolo per incidere positivamente sulle scelte e le tendenze alimentari degli alunni, delle famiglie e della collettività, con indiscutibili effetti positivi sugli orientamenti, le pratiche e la sostenibilità del sistema agroalimentare e si connota come un vero e proprio momento educativo all’interno dell’attività scolastica che concorre alla formazione di una cittadinanza alimentare e quindi parte integrante dell’intera attività scolastica.
