Die Stadt Kandern beabsichtigt den Anbau einer Mensa zur Sicherstellung und Weiterentwicklung von Ganztagesplätzen im Sinne der flexiblen Nachmittagsbetreuung. Grundlage der Planung ist der ermittelte Bedarf an Betreuungsplätzen sowie die Zielsetzung einer durchgängigen Zweizügigkeit. Der Schulstandort besteht aus einem denkmalgeschützten Hauptgebäude (Baujahr 1910) sowie einem Erweiterungsbau aus dem Jahr 2002. Im Bestand sind überwiegend funktionale Anpassungen vorgesehen, während der Anbau ergänzt und neu organisiert wird. Kern der Maßnahme ist der Neubau einer Mensa in Holzrahmenbauweise mit zugehöriger Küche. Die Mensa wird barrierefrei an den bestehenden Gebäudekomplex angebunden und ist für einen zweischichtigen Betrieb ausgelegt. Ergänzend ist eine großzügige, ausladende Überdachung vorgesehen, die den angrenzenden Schulhof funktional erweitert und als witterungsgeschützter Aufenthaltsbereich dient.
