In den kommenden Jahren sind vielfältige Bau Aktivitäten erforderlich, um die Entsorgungssicherheit weiter gewährleisten zu können. Derzeit werden umfangreichen Grundlagendaten gesammelt, die im Rahmen einer Projektentwicklung mit Konzeptcharakter für die Teilbereiche der Gebietsbezogene Kanalsanierung, Umbau der Innenstadtkanalisation, Bau von Speicherbecken vor der Kläranlage, Umgestaltung der Sammlersysteme in Verbindung mit dem Ausbau der Fernwärme und Stromleitungsnetze, haben soll.
