Deutsche Oper Berlin, Masterplan Priority 1 Renovation Complex A-C - 13720E70013 The building complex of the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Berlin-Charlottenburg is increasingly showing safety and operational deficiencies during ongoing operation, which can only be rectified through comprehensive renovation work. The building services systems, some of which have been in operation for over 60 years, are neither economical to operate nor is operational safety guaranteed. For the required basic renovation, a master plan was drawn up in 2016 in consultation with the needs provider (Senate Department for Culture and Societal Cohesion), the user (Deutsche Oper Berlin) and the building authority (Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing), which includes the different renovation needs of the numerous individual building parts and small-scale usage units for the next 20 years and is divided into three priority levels (Priority 1-3). The needs program drawn up in 2018 includes all individual measures from Priority 1 (Title 70184), to which three renovation complexes A, B, and C have been assigned. The project goals are derived from the approved needs program of 2018. Separate building planning documents (BPU) will be drawn up for each renovation complex (SK). Essentially, in addition to building preservation, these are measures for technical building equipment (TGA), their upgrading or adaptation to current regulations and contemporary standards, which are intended to ensure the continuation of the opera performances of the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the next decades. The implementation of the measures from Renovation Complex A and some advanced measures began in 2020, and individual measures of SK-B began in 2025. The advanced measures and parts of SK-A have since been completed (see also DOB_Schnittstellenuebersicht_SKA-C). The individual measures already approved financially by building planning documents are in different service phases, so a clear, distinct allocation per financial document is not possible. For technically consistent and timely implementation, cross-section, parallel processing of the various individual measures in all service sections is required.
