Description

The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Stanford Hall (SH) manages a cohort of patients with complex musculoskeletal, neurological and chronic conditions. A key enabler for DMRC is a wheelchair service which includes the provision of wheelchairs, wheelchair assessment, pressure cushions, technical support, accessories, maintenance, and subject matter expert advice. Wheelchairs and accessories may be for the long term (over 12 months) or for the short term (less than 12 months) to support the patient as they recover.
The Authority has a nationwide requirement for the provision of wheelchair and seating services to include:
a. Provide assessments - Carry out patient assessments as required for wheelchairs and pressure cushions/accessories offering a remote service via the telephone or a video teleconferencing (VTC) system and also visiting inpatients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust Foundation) or other locations.
b. Technical support - Provide urgent technical support when the wheelchair is unsafe or unusable.
c. Ordering - Long-term use wheelchairs, cushions and associated parts.
d. Annual Servicing - Annual Servicing of wheelchair for the duration of time the patient is within the military.
e. Urgent Repairs - Urgent Repairs within 3 working days of being reported.
f. Review – Provide a rolling review programme the needs of the patient.

Access - Provide access to the model of wheelchairs seating, accessories and parts required by the Authority on a case by case basis
h. Deliver and Fit the Wheelchair - To include the delivery and set up of the wheelchair (including pressure cushion/accessories) at the patient’s to include user guides.
i. Short term Loan Stock – Maintain, clinically clean and repair approximately 40 chairs and pressure cushions, these already exist and is based at DMRC SH.
j. Transfer of Wheelchair Users to NHS - Transfer of care which will include, but not be limited to, referral to and liaison with the Wheelchair Services at their local NHS Centre to provide the specific information and advice required for each patient to ensure a smooth transition of care.
k. To cover mainland UK locations.
Cyber Security: The MoD has a duty to protect itself from Cyber threats and now we extend this to Suppliers we engage with. As an extension of the Government’s Cyber Essentials Scheme the MoD, working together with Industry and other Government Departments, have developed a more robust Cyber Security Model, under the umbrella of the Defence Cyber Protection Partnership (DCPP). All prime contractors must have the cyber security controls specified in DEF Stan 05-138 (Cyber Security for Defence Suppliers), as appropriate to the cyber risk level specified in the contract.
The Authority has determined the level of risk at HIGH (Reference: RAR- 41224A01) as defined in DEF Stan 05-138. In order to do business with the MOD you must have the cyber security controls required as shown above.
