Breast examinations as a purchased service

Varsinais-Suomen Hyvinvointialue (Welfare Area of Southwest Finland) is seeking to procure breast examination services as a purchased service. This procurement covers a comprehensive range of examinations, including mammography, associated ultrasounds, biopsies (cytology and tissue samples) with referrals and transport to Tyks Pathology, and other minor radiological procedures related to breast examinations, such as clip markings. The services are to be performed entirely at the service provider's premises and by the service provider.

The estimated value of the procurement is €365,000 per year. The contracting authority estimates the following annual volumes for the examinations: approximately 1,500 X-ray examinations of the breast (mammography), 1,900 ultrasound examinations of the breasts, 300 ultrasound-guided tissue sample collections from the breast, 60 ultrasound-guided puncture of breast cysts, 50 clip markings, 15 magnification X-ray examinations of the breast (magnification mammography), 15 ultrasound-guided cytology sample collections from the breast, 5 supplementary or limited ultrasound examinations of the breast, and 50 ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsies of lymph nodes (tissue samples), and 50 ultrasound-guided cytology samples from lymph nodes.
