Der Sicherheitsdienst übernimmt an mehreren Standorten der Sozialhilfe Basel-Stadt umfassende Sicherheits-, Kontroll- und Ordnungsaufgaben. Dazu gehören die Gewährleistung von Sicherheit, Ruhe und Ordnung, die sichtbare Präsenz vor Ort, Zutritts- und Besucherkontrollen, regelmässige Innen- und Aussenkontrollen sowie die Durchsetzung von Hausordnungen. Er schützt Mitarbeitende, Bewohner und Infrastruktur, interveniert bei Konflikten und Regelverstössen und setzt auf professionelle Deeskalation. Er übernimmt die Alarmierung und Unterstützung von Polizei, Feuerwehr und Sanität bei Notfällen, Evakuationen oder sicherheitsrelevanten Ereignissen. Zu den Leistungen zählen zudem die Überwachung von Wohn- und Gemeinschaftsbereichen, Areal- und Nutzungskontrollen, Unterstützung bei Einlassprozessen in Notschlafstellen, Schlüssel- und Zutrittsmanagement sowie die Sicherstellung von Sauberkeit und Ordnung. Sämtliche Vorkommnisse, Kontrollen und Interventionen werden dokumentiert und rapportiert.
