Le présent projet porte sur la construction d’une centrale thermique à biomasse destinée à alimenter le nouveau réseau de chauffage urbain du Mendrisiotto, avec, dans un premier temps, l’extension du secteur de Casvegno jusqu’à la via Turconi à Mendrisio, puis des ramifications vers Coldrerio, le stade municipal et d’autres rues du quartier. L'intervention est prévue sur la parcelle RDF 17 de la commune de Coldrerio, dans la zone PR PUC – Zone réservée aux bâtiments et installations destinés aux structures liées à l'élimination et au traitement des déchets.
