I tillegg henvises det til International Standards on Auditing (ISA) Konsernets økonomifunksjon er todelt, men fysisk lokalisert og organisert på samme sted, her Lungegårdskaien 42. Økonomifunksjonen er tilknyttet BIR AS sine fellestjenester og økonomisjef rapporterer til konsernsjef. Den lovpålagte del av økonomifunksjonen består i dag av 14 medarbeidere og har det overordnede ansvaret for konsernets økonomi, herunder konsernregnskapet. Den konkurranseutsatte del av konsernet består av 3 medarbeider og økonomifunksjonen/ arbeidsoppgavene er stor grad knyttet opp mot selskapet BIR Bedrift AS m/ døtre.
